Zack Abrams, one of our very own, wrote a rather enlightening (pardon the pun) review of Everything is Illuminated. Check it out on Project Myopia.

The latest edition of From Arthur's Seat, an anthology of prose and poetry, launched on 11 May, and we think it looks pretty great. You can see photos of the launch celebration on their Facebook page. And don't forget to order a copy so you, too, can

'encounter poems that range from tightly structured haiku to dense unrelenting prose poetry to finely wrought free verse . . . [and] read fiction that spans the minimalism of Ray Carver, the palm-of-the-hand sensibility of Kawabata, and the Saunders-esque absurdism of a teenaged boy’s travails cast in high chivalric mode . . . What awaits you is far from bland. Dig in. Enjoy.'

Our first issue was a huge success, thanks to all of our amazing contributors. We're currently closed for submissions but will send out a call when we open back up. We've also updated our submission guidelines. As a small, student-run organisation, we unfortunately are unable to respond to all submissions. As a result, if you have not heard from us within 12 weeks, you may assume your submission has not been accepted. As of 13 April 2017, we have responded to all successful submissions. Until our next call, keep reading and writing. Cheers! - The Editors

Like graphic novels? Simon Grennan is at UoE tomorrow (7th February) at 6pm in Appleton Tower, lecture theatre 2. He'll discuss Dispossession, his recently published graphic adaptation of Anthony Trollope's John Caldigate. Grennan's adaptation uses experiments with colour, style and point of view both to dramatise original plot elements and to add new features including the first ever representation of the Aboriginal Wiradjuri language in a graphic novel.

This event is free to attend and all are welcome! The lecture will run for around 50 minutes, with time for questions afterwards.
