Like graphic novels? Simon Grennan is at UoE tomorrow (7th February) at 6pm in Appleton Tower, lecture theatre 2. He'll discuss Dispossession, his recently published graphic adaptation of Anthony Trollope's John Caldigate. Grennan's adaptation uses experiments with colour, style and point of view both to dramatise original plot elements and to add new features including the first ever representation of the Aboriginal Wiradjuri language in a graphic novel.

This event is free to attend and all are welcome! The lecture will run for around 50 minutes, with time for questions afterwards.

We are launching an exciting competition for students, faculty/staff and alumni at the Uni of Edinburgh! All you have to do is write a story using Twitter. The theme for the competition is Ink and Tattoos and here’s how it all works:

The competition is running from 9 Jan. to 9 Feb. To enter, write a story in 135 characters or less and use the hashtag #50GS. You can submit up to three stories, which must loosely fit our theme of Ink and Tattoos (however you want to interpret that!).

Editors of 50GS will judge the competition and three winners will be selected. The winning stories will be revealed at our launch on 20 Feb. at the Festival of Creative Learning. Each winner will receive a fantastic, signed copy of an Alexander McCall Smith novel ...
